My name is Jami Rodriguez and I am a Special Education Legal Advocate. I have a Bachelor's of Science in Paralegal Studies and am currently pursuing my Masters in Legal Studies. I am a member of COPAA (Council of parents, attorneys, and advocates) a member of the Autism Society, Autism Speaks and many other Autism resources. I am a member of and have been trained in Special Education Legal Advocacy through the National Association for Professional Special Education Advocates (NAPSEA) as well as training through Wrightslaw ( http://wrightslaw.com/ ). I am in the process of receiving my Autism Specialist Certification. However, what I am most proud of is my role as a parent of a special needs child. I understand the struggles of special needs families and I am passionate about helping other families to be as educated as possible of their rights and their children's rights so that they may learn to advocate for themselves. I have experienced the struggles in the public school system and have had to develop a tough skin as my own personal journey to advocate for my own child continues. I understand and can relate to special needs families and hope that I can provide the support these families so desperately seek. Knowledge is power! I will work diligently to help families of special needs children increase their education on their children's rights and their rights as parents as well as continue to work towards guaranteeing EVERY child a free, appropriate, public education.
